When I first got into real estate, I thought success would come from hustling hard, having a great personality, and knowing my market. And while those things help, they’re not the full picture.
Looking back, here are three things I really wish I had learned earlier. These game-changers have transformed how I work, how I serve my clients, and how I grow my business.
1. Follow-Up Is Everything
Seriously—when someone shows interest in working with you, that’s just the beginning. Leads don’t convert themselves! People are busy, distracted, and sometimes just unsure about timing. That’s why consistent, thoughtful follow-up is key.
Whether it's a quick check-in email, a DM reply, or a personalized video message—reaching out (more than once!) helps people feel seen and supported. Trust builds over time, and follow-up is how you earn it.
š Fortune really is in the follow-up.
2. Systems Save Your Sanity
From lead tracking to listing prep to client onboarding, having repeatable systems in place has saved me so much time and mental energy.
I used to feel like I was starting from scratch every time. Now, I’ve created checklists, templates, and automations that let me deliver consistent service without burning out. Systems don’t have to be fancy—just something you can count on.
3. Love On Your People
Your past clients, your sphere, your inner circle—those are your people. And they’re the heart of your business. Taking the time to check in, send a thoughtful note, or celebrate a milestone goes a long way.
When people feel remembered, they become loyal fans—and often, your best source of referrals.
