Things to Do in Oklahoma City in October 2026

Things to Do in Oklahoma City in October 2026

October is here and it sure feels like it.

I'll be stitching away and hopefully watching some football on the back porch. The weather is perfect for it. If you'd rather get out of the house, Oklahoma City has a full month lined up. Here's what's on my radar.

Festivals and Big Weekends

The first weekend is a big one. The Oklahoma Czech Festival celebrates its 60th anniversary in downtown Yukon on October 2 and 3, with a Friday night kickoff, a Saturday morning parade on Main Street, polka bands, and kolaches. That same weekend, the Asian Night Market takes over OKC's Asian District on October 2 and 3, and the Village Arts Festival fills Village Civic Plaza on October 3 and 4. On Sunday, October 4, the OKC R&B Festival brings live music to Scissortail Park starting at 4pm.

Later in the month, OK!toberfest runs October 15 to 18 at OKC Fair Park, with German beer, bratwurst, and live music. On October 17, the Stockyards Stampede kicks off at 10am with longhorns parading down Exchange Avenue in Historic Stockyards City. Admission is free.

To close out the month, the Coal Creek Balloon and Kite Festival lifts off in Tuttle on October 30 and 31, with hot air balloons, a kite show, and a vendor market.

Arts, Theater, and a Night Out

Tonight, October 2, is First Friday in the Paseo Arts District from 6 to 9pm. Galleries open their doors and the whole street comes out. Lyric Theatre's Come From Away wraps its run at Lyric's Plaza Theatre on October 4, so this weekend is your last chance.

The OKC Philharmonic performs Worlds of Wonder on October 10 and returns with Music to Die For on October 30 and 31 at Civic Center Music Hall. OKC Ballet's Shorts runs October 23 to 25 in the same hall, with three ballets in one evening, including Agnes de Mille's Rodeo. Sombr plays Paycom Center on October 16.

And if you love old homes the way I do, the Heritage Hills Historic Homes Tour is October 24 and 25 from 1 to 5pm. This is its 60th year, and it's a rare chance to step inside some of the most beautiful historic homes in Oklahoma City.

Fall and Halloween Fun

Pumpkin patch season is in full swing. Walnut Woods in Edmond is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 5pm, and Orr Family Farm in south OKC has its pumpkin patch, corn maze, and hayrides. In Yukon, the Chisholm Trail Festival takes over Mollie Spencer Farm on October 17.

For the kids, Haunt the Zoo starts October 10 at the OKC Zoo and runs Saturdays and Sundays, with a nighttime event on October 30. HalloWest at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is October 22 from 5:30 to 8pm, with trick-or-treating through Prosperity Junction. Brick or Treat brings costumed kids 14 and under to Bricktown on October 25.

For the grown-ups, Ghouls Night on the Plaza lights up the Plaza District on October 9, and OKANAfest is October 17 from noon to 4pm at OKANA Resort.

Game Day

Football season is in full swing. OU plays Texas in Dallas on October 10 at 2:30pm, hosts Kentucky in Norman on October 17, travels to Mississippi State on October 24, and is back home against South Carolina on Halloween. OSU hosts UCF on October 10, heads to Houston on October 17, hosts Colorado for Homecoming on October 24, and closes the month at Iowa State.

The Thunder open the season at San Antonio on October 20 at 8:30pm on NBC. The home opener is two days later, October 22 at 8:30pm, against the Nuggets at Paycom Center.

Staying Active and Farmers Markets

Saturday mornings are made for farmers markets. Scissortail Park runs from 9am to 1pm, the OKC Public Farmers Market from 9am to 2pm, and the Edmond Farmers Market in downtown Edmond from 8am to 1pm.

If you want to move a little first, Run Like a Girl OKC has group runs all month, including a run and coffee at 30th St Market on October 10. The OKC Tennis Center hosts an adult drill group on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings, and Hidden Trails offers cardio tennis on Saturdays from 9 to 10am.

Hobbies and Something New

This is my favorite section. Stitch Society has a full October, including a picture frame finishing class on October 3, beginner classes on multiple dates, Stitch Stash on October 10 and 20, and an ornament finishing class on October 11.

Mahjong fans can join OK Let's Mahjong for a two-player showdown at Cosabella Kitchen on October 12 and Mahjong Monday at Tiny Bubbles on October 19. Taste of Western is October 8 at Will Rogers Theatre, and the Oklahoma Historical Society Book Sale runs October 21 to 24 at the Oklahoma History Center.
