Where to Go When You Need a Dopamine Hit in Oklahoma City

Where to Go When You Need a Dopamine Hit in Oklahoma City

Some places lift your mood the second you see them. For me, that's Bradford House after dark.

You might already know it for breakfast. It's lovely in the morning. But if you haven't been in the evening, you're in for a treat.

A 1912 House That Glows at Night

Bradford House sits at NW 38th Street, right off historic Classen Boulevard. The house was built in 1912 for William Bradford, Oklahoma County's first county clerk. Over the years, it was split into apartments and slowly fell into disrepair.

Local owners Jason and Sara Kate Little bought it and spent years bringing it back. They kept the original brick and framing, filled the rooms with antiques from France and Italy, and added a modern guesthouse out back around a garden courtyard. Today it's a 36-room boutique hotel included in the MICHELIN Guide's hotel selection, and the café and cocktail bar are open to everyone.

At night, every window is lit. Walking up and seeing the whole house glowing is pure dopamine every time.

What the Evening Feels Like

Inside, every room has something to look at. A hand-painted chinoiserie mural lines the entry. The café walls hold more than 100 framed photos of Oklahoma City residents from 1910 to 1960. There are small alcoves where you can settle in with a glass of wine and actually hear each other talk.

The cocktail bar leans classic. The kitchen serves French and American dishes at dinner, and Monday nights are Burgers and Beaujolais.

Make a Night of It

Bradford House is a short drive up Classen from the restaurants on NW 23rd Street. Have dinner on 23rd, then head up for a nightcap. It's an easy way to turn a regular weeknight into something that feels like a little getaway.

Living Close to Spots Like This

This is one of my favorite things about Oklahoma City. Historic neighborhoods near the Classen corridor, like Crown Heights and Mesta Park, put places like Bradford House just minutes from home. If you'd rather have more space, Edmond, Yukon, and Mustang are an easy drive away. You get the home you want and a great night out.
