OpenTable just released its Icons list for Oklahoma City, a roundup of the hottest restaurants in town right now. Nine spots made the list, and every single one is worth the reservation.
Those of us who live here have watched this food scene grow for years. But if you are thinking about relocating to the OKC metro, this list is proof that you don't have to give up great dining to get wide open spaces, a slower pace of life, and a beautiful home you can actually afford.
Here is a quick tour of who made the list.
Bar Sen might be the biggest headline. Chef Jeff Chanchaleune's Laotian restaurant landed on The New York Times list of the top 50 restaurants in the country in 2025 and picked up a James Beard nomination. The khao piek sen, a Laotian chicken noodle soup, is the dish everyone talks about.
Grey Sweater in Deep Deuce is where chef Andrew Black won a James Beard Award for Best Chef: Southwest in 2023. It is a blind tasting menu, which means you show up without a plan and let the kitchen surprise you. Perfect for a special occasion.
Nonesuch in Midtown seats just 18 people around an open kitchen, and it earned a James Beard Outstanding Restaurant nomination in 2025. Every seat faces the chefs, so dinner feels like a front-row experience.
Sedalia's Oyster & Seafood made Bon Appétit's best new restaurants list in 2023, and chef Zack Walters has followed it up with back-to-back James Beard nominations. Start with the focaccia and salt cod butter. Thank me later.
The Crown in Nichols Hills does something I have not seen anywhere else. Chef Eric Smith comes to your table before the meal, asks what you love, and builds your menu from there. USA Today named it one of the top 40 restaurants in the country in 2025.
FRIDA Southwest in the Paseo Arts District blends Oklahoma, Santa Fe, and northern Mexico flavors, with a bar program that earned its own James Beard semifinalist nod. The patio opens right onto the arts district, which makes it a great date night.
Vast sits on the 49th floor downtown with panoramic views of the city. Order the barrel-aged old fashioned and watch the sunset. It never gets old.
Tellers serves wood-fired Italian inside the restored teller booths of the historic First National Bank building. The room alone is worth the reservation.
MAHT Steakhouse puts a Korean spin on the classic American steakhouse, with dishes like kimchi bacon risotto next to a prime ribeye. It is led by a James Beard semifinalist chef, and the energy in the room matches the food.
Here is what I love about this list. These restaurants are spread across downtown, Midtown, Deep Deuce, the Paseo, and Nichols Hills, and every single one of them is an easy drive from Yukon, Mustang, Edmond, Tuttle, or Newcastle. That is the OKC metro in a nutshell. You get a quiet neighborhood, room to breathe, and a nationally recognized food scene twenty minutes from your front door.
